Grabbing the Sandbags in Brisbane - The Canadian Archivist Blog

Jan. 13th, 2011 08:45 am Grabbing the Sandbags in Brisbane

Like any other Brisbane residents, the arts and library community has been bracing for the worst as terrible flooding rolls across a part of Australia that normally suffers from drought. They're lucky, because they've known it's coming, so they've been able to move collections like the State Library to higher ground in advance of the waters, though they're naturally concerned that the books and documents are being moved from climate-controlled vaults into uncontrolled circumstances. The ambient humidity is, of course, bad enough all by itself, but they're doing their best to manage.
